Hyogo Kokoen Garden

Kokoen Garden is a Japanese garden which was constructed on the site of Nishi-Oyashiki (the Lord's West Residence), along with Himeji Castle, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Himeji municipal administration. There are nine different gardens, such as "Oyashiki-no-Niwa" (The Garden of the Lord's Residence), and "Cha-no-Niwa"(Tea Ceremony Garden), located in the vast gardens. The gardens are approximately ten thousand tsubo (about 3.5 hectares). The garden is a replication of Tsuijibei and Yashikimon which are reminicent of the Edo Period, and are both known as famous backdrops for a number of historical dramas. There is a matcha tea service (for a small fee) in the restaurant and a tea room in the garden.
