Hyogo Shoshazan Engyoji Temple

This temple of the Tendai sect is located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture on the peak of Mt. Shosha. It was erected during the middle of the Heian period, and is known as one of the the three Great Dojos of the Tendai sect, along with Mt. Hiei and Ooyama. Many buildings such as auditoriums and local houses are designated as Important Cultural Property. Visitors can experience a one night, two days, health dojo experience such as Zazen or Dokyo, or a one day Zazen experience. A Syakyo experience is also available inside the temple. The temple is accesible in about four minutes by ropeway, or alternatively guests can hike the mountain.
