Ozu Castle

Ozu Castle was built in the fourteenth century, overlooking the Hijikawa River in the city of Ozu. Although the four-story main keep was demolished in 1888, it was restored in 2004, referencing historical records and wooden models from the Edo period (1603–1867). The reconstruction uses traditional joinery techniques and building materials. Four of the castle’s original turrets remain and are all designated National Important Cultural Properties.
