Kamikatsu Zero Waste Center

Kamikatsu in central Tokushima has an innovative approach to waste management. There are no garbage collection services in the town. Instead, residents are responsible for composting their food scraps and bringing recyclable materials to the Zero Waste Center. Seventeen years after the town issued a Zero Waste Declaration, Kamikatsu’s recycling rate has surpassed 80%.
