This museum used to be the former studio of the protean sculptor Isamu Noguchi. This Noguchi museum is the fulfillment of Noguchi’s wish that his former studio in Japan be an extension of his museum in New York, that it be a place to inspire artists and scholars. It is a rare art museum, and visitors can see Noguchi's former house, garden (with sculptures displayed), and the exhibition warehouse, where the sculptures and collections are stored (many are still unfinished). The museum preserves the serene working atmosphere of Noguchi's studio.
