Hiroshima Io-ji Temple

This temple is located in the middle part of Mt. Ushiroyama. It is said that this temple was founded by Kukai, also known as Kobo Daishi in 826. Although it burned down during a fire, the bell tower was rebuilt 1642, and the main hall in 1685. The view is spectacular due to the fact that the temple is located on a hillside and the whole of Tomonoura is visible. The view from "Taishiden," on the mountainside behind Ioji Temple, is especially beautiful and well known as it overlooks the archipelagos in the Seto Inland Sea.
